About us

Mum Rage is a community art project by mums who have JUST. HAD. ENOUGH. We're run during nap time. When that happens.

TINY HANDS, BIG IMPACT

We can't remember where it was, but we read that when you are stressed, you should look at the baby's hands. See how small they are. Centre yourself. Slow down. Walk away for a minute if you need to.

Focusing on their little hands has helped since that moment, so it's only right that tiny hands are the centre of the Mum Rage art project. (Stay tuned—images are coming soon).

INSPIRATIONS

The Mum Rage community art project is inspired by the brilliant Rachel Burke and her Apomogy project.

We are not affiliated with Minna Dubin and her book Mum Rage: The Everyday Crisis of Modern Motherhood. However, we own it and intend to read it in full by the time our babies reach adulthood. We love the concept she has explored (which we've read about in the press—short form for the win), and this project is a loving hat tip to her work, and our contribution to the discourse. We encourage you to buy the book at your local independent book store.

Mum Rage is also inspired by the wonder woman, Joeli Brearley, and her vital work with Pregnant Then Screwed. Particularly their principles referencing anger:

"We will challenge and be provocative to create change: Not being afraid to show our anger. We believe anger is a mechanism for change. We will, on occassion, campaign on and talk about the issues that others are too nervous to discuss."

Too effing right, mamas.
